Insurance company log jams! None of the local carriers seemed to be prepared for the avalanche of new enrollments as of the January 1st implementation of Health Care Reform. And one of the major carriers, Independence Blue Cross/Keystone Health Plan East is moving their electronic platform at the same time! It’s taking weeks for groups effective January 1st to get their i.d. cards, plans are being loaded incorrectly and credits for premium checks are being delayed. Because of delays in transitioning to the new electronic platform, the duties that we normally perform as brokers on behalf of our clients can’t be carried out. We’re at the mercy of the carriers that are working overtime to try to keep up. We’re keeping lists of every outstanding item and checking them off as they are completed. Bear with us….we’re on it!
